After Karbonn, Airtel is gearing up to partner with Lava, yet another domestic handset maker, to launch their second Airtel 4G smartphone in the country. Earlier this month, Airtel launched a budget 4G smartphone in partnership with Karbonn, bundled with tailored data and voice offers.
As per a report, Airtel is now collaborating with Lava to launch their second 4G VoLTE enabled smartphone. This second 4G smartphone from Airtel will also come with bundled data and voice plans.
Lava-Airtel 4G Smartphone
The upcoming, bundled smartphone from Airtel will cost around Rs 3,500/-, but it will be available at an ‘effective price’ of Rs 1,699/-. Like the Karbonn A40 Indian, users who will buy the Lava smartphone, will also get cashbacks after a pre-determined period. It will be credited to their Airtel Payments Bank account, after the completion of the decided time period.
The smartphone will come with a bundled data and voice plan, which requires to be recharged at regular intervals in order to qualify for the cashback.
The Lava 4G smartphone will come with similar kind of specs like the Karbonn A40 Indian, with some minor changes. The Lava smartphone will probably feature a 4.5 inch or bigger display, as compared to the 4 inch one on the Karbonn A40 Indian.
The Lava phone is expected to run Android 7.0 Nougat, pack in a better processor with a 1.3GHz quad core chipset, 1GB of RAM and expandable storage option. The smartphone might feature a 2MP or higher rear camera with a VGA front camera and a bigger battery.
Minimum Monthly Recharge
For Karbonn A40 Indian, Airtel launched the phone with bundled plan where the user needs to do a minimum recharge of Rs. 169/- without a break for three years to qualify for the cash refund. For Lava, the minimum monthly recharge might remain same, but time period for the cash back may differ. The Rs. 169/- plan offers unlimited calling to any network and 500MB of 4G data per day for 28 days.
Third Airtel 4G Smartphone In the Pipeline Already
Not just these two, Airtel is planning to partner with another domestic handset manufacturer to bring their third bundled Airtel, 4G enabled, smartphone to the market. The next smartphone is expected to come with an effective price of around Rs. 1,399/- to Rs. 1,699/-, and might launch by the end of the year.
Airtel is being savvy in bringing a series of low-cost 4G handsets bundled with exclusive data and voice offers to take on Jio and other carriers. Expanding their product line with a wide range of handsets will provide Airtel an opportunity for a wider mass-appeal, and consequently a bigger share of the market.
